BPP-JOBT One Brick At A Time Ensembles, Activities, and Songs for Music Classes by Josh Southard
These 14 lessons have been percolating in Josh’s classes at his school and in his Orff Level course teaching. All are child tested and true with logical, clear, sequential Orff process lesson plans. Strategies for teaching melodies and rhythms to all elementary grades along with playable yet beautiful arrangements for Orff Instruments
One Brick at a Time is a collection of lessons created and taught in Josh’s classroom, designed to build musical skills step by step. Begin with the basics such as singing, steady beat, and simple patterns, and gradually layer on more challenging elements including barred instruments, reading rhythms, performing in ensembles, and improvisation.
Every song learned, every rhythm practiced, and every creative idea tried is a “brick” that helps students become confident, independent musicians. No single lesson is meant to do everything, but together they form a strong foundation for musical understanding and joy.
Online supplemental materials are also included with spectacular full color visuals, full scores, student songsheets and more!
